I've been told that the new version of the program, which should be worked out shortly, won't have these problems. I plan to do an upgrade as soon as I know the major bugs are worked out and see how it goes. It may be a little while, like a few days or a few weeks. I doubt that long, though.
I know I keep telling you guys to have patience, but this isn't something I can fix right away. I promise I'll go check out the eFiction site to see when it's safe to download the new version (meaning the bugs have been worked out by other people who have downloaded and used it). In fact, I'll go check now. I don't know when it will be done, but I'll be sure to let you all know.
Thanks for being patient, guys. I pretty much got everythting else fixed. If you find anything else that either a) hasn't been fixed or b) is a new problem I don't know about, feel free to email me and let me know. You can use either the admin email or the deirdra one. I get both every time Outlook checks for new mail.
Thanks again.
However...For now you can edit your pre-existing chapters. Yes, I know I said it would take me days, weeks, even. But someone was nice enough to point me in the right direction and taught me how to do a mass permission change.
The filtering and searching problems will be taken care of shortly. I will be out of town all of tomorrow (Saturday) and most of Sunday. DO NOT email me tomorrow morning and expect to hear back from me in less than two days at the least. I may not get a chance to even check my email until Monday when I wake up.
Having said that, I'll attempt to at least get those few problems looked at before I crawl into bed in a few hours.
D
Right. Well, should be fixed now. If you still have problems, let me know.
I am now looking for a cheaper server as our Donation Drives are obviously not working.
We need $300.00 per month right now. Please, if you want this site to stay open, donate.
I cannot stress the fact that this site will close if I cannot get the funds together to pay for it.
Thank you to those who did donate this past month for February. We have the site open for another month because of you.
Please donate to keep The Silver Snitch open.
Thank you.
We are now just under halfway mark for February's donations. Please don't forget about us! *grin*
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Year!
I would like to keep the funds coming so we don't have to worry about the site month by month.
Thank you ALL for donating!
This month, I cannot afford to carry the rest of the cost. If we do not reach our goal, I will have no alternative than to pear down the site and put it on public servers.
I will do what I can to NOT close the site, but I do need your help.
Please donate.
If every registered member donates $5.00 we will meet our goal for months!
Help keep The Silver Snitch going.
DONATE HERE!
I will update the graphic tonight.
I'm pleased to state that we are just under half way there for our December hosting costs! Please remember to donate to this fund, so we can keep The Silver Snitch running! Without your help, I cannot keep this site going.
Hope you are looking into and/or writing for our Featured Author Challenge!
~ Jax
Our first month with a new webmistress has successfully passed, with a couple of expected hiccups. We seem to have them all ironed out now, so if you notice anything still amiss in our pages, please don't hesitate to bring them to our attention.
Every year in November is National Novel Writing Month. This year is no different. Save for the fact there is a new contest here at The Silver Snitch.
We challenge you to write a "novel" in November with your favorite pairing. Doesn't have to be the 50,000 words that NaNoWriMo requests, though if you want to, go for it! We simply as for 10,000 words!
The winner of this contest will be featured as our "Featured Author" and their story will be featured here in the Site News.
Just remember that this story still must be within the guidelines of TSS, and please have it beta'd.
This contest will close on November 30, 2006 at 11:59 pm PST. All stories must be submitted to the site by December 15, 2006. The winner will be featured on January 1, 2007.
Donations for the site are still being accepted, we barely made it for the month of November thanks to a donation from my non-HP loving husband. Let's all give him a cheer! LOL
We have added a Snitch-O-Meter so that you can see how close we are to our goal.
Thank you all again for your support, and have a wonderful November!
~ Jax
The archives are now open once more. A few things, before you go back to uploading and reading.
* The wordcount for the archive has been set to a minimum of 500 words per chapter. This means you will NOT be able to post anything shorter than that. If you have a chapter that is shorter than 500 words, post it with another chapter.
* The story index pages are still available. I have set them to 'On'. This means that when you click on the title of a story that is multi-chaptered, you will see a list of the chapters and their wordcount, among other things.
* The warning popups for R and NC-17 rated fics have been temporarily turned off. They were giving me problems. When I have fixed it, they will be back on.
* From now on, when posting a challenge, use the challenge feature. As I said before, you will no longer be able to post any chapter less than 500 words. Unless it's a challenge. eFiction 2.0.7 has a nifty challenge category for this purpose. I'm sure we will eventually be locking the Issued Challenges category, though we will keep it up so you can still see previously posted challenges.
* When registering for a new account, you may now choose your password instead of waiting for the program to send you one. You may also fill out all your information when you register, should you choose to do so.
* Should you like to offer your services as a beta, you may now do so in your profile. Just go to your account info and edit your personal information. New things have been added to member profiles.
* You may now post a series, not just stories. A lot of people, myself included, have posted stories in a series as chapters in one long story. (For an example of what I mean, see my 'story' The Supposed Tale of Unrequited Love.) You no longer need to do this, nor do you have to post stories separately. Use the Series function.
* As of now, these skins are TEMPORARY. The only one we may keep after the contest, is the TSS2 one, which was adapted from the eFiction skin and the original TSS skin. It is currently set as the default skin on all three archives.
If you have any questions regarding how to use the new version of the archive, do not hesitate to email me and ask. I will answer any questions or concerns you have with the program or the archive in general to the best of my ability. For future reference, should you have a problem with the program, or the way the archive is running (not the way we run things, but a glitch or something similar), email me, Deirdra. That's what I'm here for.
Thank you for your patience, it was a pretty smooth ride getting the archives upgraded.
You may commence with updating, uploading and reading.
Deirdra
Deirdra@thesilversnitch.net
TSS will be locked down for the next few hours so I can do the upgrade. This means you won't be able to upload any stories. I would ask that no one attempts to access the site while I'm doing this. I will begin with TSS I, then move on to the other two after I make sure the archive is running smoothly with the upgraded program. I will post another notice when I have finished with the complete upgrade.
Thank you for being patient, it shouldn't take me too long. Providing things don't go wrong.
Deirdra
This is how the contest will work.
For each archive, TSS I (Harry/Draco), TSS II (Harry/Severus) and TSS III (Every Other Pairing), we want themed skins. You may submit one skin per archive, meaning that if you would like to make one for each, go right ahead. But, that also means that we are only accepting one submission from any one person per archive. (You can submit one to TSS I, TSS II, and TSS III, but not two or more to any one archive.)
You are free to choose whichever colors you like, but make sure that the font is visible against any background you use. Images (i.e. banner, category images, archive buttons, etc) will also be accepted with your skin. If you would like to try and make a skin, but just aren't sure how to go about doing so, email deirdra, at deirdra@thesilversnitch.net, and she'll send you any information she has and try to help you in any way she can. You can also get help on making skins from the eFiction forum at http://efiction.org
This contest will begin at any time on Sunday, October 15, 2006 and end on Friday, October 27, 2006 at midnight EST. That gives you almaosts two weeks to get your skins made and sent in. We will pick the winners and present the new skins on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31, 2006.
You will be given full credit in the footer of the archive, should your skin be chosen and you will also be made an affiliate (to have an image link back to your site on the affiliates page) of the archives. Your name will become known in every slash loving household for designing the new look of TSS!
If you have any questions or comments about this contest, email Deirdra and she'll try to answer anything she can.
This is what needs to be included in the files you send in:
footer.tpl
header.tpl
index.tpl
newsbox.tpl
variables.tpl
style.css
any and all images that will be used in the skin, including banners, category images and backgrounds
Your skin must have a name, and be able to run on eFiction version 2.0.7
Again, If you're having trouble creating some and/or all of these files, email Deirdra and she'll send you a file with detailed directions on how to make a skin. You can also receive help from the staff at the eFiction forums.
Thank you for participating, we really appreciate it!
Jax and Deirdra
Hi Everyone –
We have chosen a new webmistress for TSS, and her name is Jax. It was a difficult decision as there were several qualified candidates, but Maggie and I thought Jax seemed to be what TSS needed. We are looking forward to helping her get comfortable in her new role. Deirdra is going to resume her role as our e-fiction person, so Maggie and I know that TSS is in very capable hands!
Jax has a list of everyone who showed an interest in helping or becoming a webmistress, and if she is interested in either, she will contact you.
She has already set up a new link for the donations, so please begin donating – there is no balance for the November DS yet. We renewed our domain names with the money we had left over.
Maggie and I are very happy about this, and although it is perhaps a bit sad leaving TSS, we know it is time, and the thought of TSS continuing makes us extremely happy. Please continue to support TSS. Maggie, Mandi, and I are proud of what it has become, and we look forward to watching it continue and prosper as Jax and Deirdra take the reins.
Jax will probably be posting soon to introduce herself to you.
We think that is all we need to say besides thank you everyone for helping to make TSS such a wonderful site! I’ll be around for a while until Jax feels comfortable enough, so I am not completely gone yet!
Your Former TSS Webmistresses,
Michelle and Maggie
Just a quick note to say that we are a bit under halfway there for our October Dedicated Server dues. We don't like asking for money, but as we said when we reopened TSS, if we do not get enough monthly donations to maintain our Dedicated Server, we'll have no other
choice than to return to our shared server, and within a week we'd more than likely be right back where we found ourselves last September. Then we would close TSS.
We will accept any amount you are willing to donate. All youneed to do is click on the `Donate Here' button on the index pages of our sites. If you want to send us money through the mail, please
send us an e-mail at the.silver.snitch at gmail.com and ask about mailing donations to us.
Some of you have asked about making automated payments each month, and we are going to look into that soon, because we know that will make it much easier. I know it is much easier when my transactions happen and I don't have to do anything - lol!
Beginning tomorrow, we will be listing only the people who donate each month (if you have given us permission to do so), so if you donate regularly, your name will be listed each month you donate.
We are currently making plans for the upcoming contest, and are considering having a mini-challenge one weekend in the near future. Our designs for the new skins are coming along very well, and we are very happy with how things are going.
We are approaching the six-month mark of our re-opening, which is really mind-boggling! I can't remember now if members can reply to our posts in the group, but we are also going to post this in our LJ(http://community.livejournal.com/thesilversnitch/), and if anyone has any suggestions about how we can improve TSS, please leave us a comment and let us know. We are already thinking of doing away with our forum because it is not active! Maggie and I are actually
missing the old days of having everyone post in this group, but at this point in time, we are not planning on reopening the group. If anyone has any ideas for the forum, or other ideas, let us know,
please. For the past year, we've done what we had to do to keep TSS
afloat, and not much else, but we do want to implement new ideas on
TSS, and hopefully we can begin doing that after the New Year.
We appreciate your continued support of TSS, and look forward to continue serving your fic needs. Thank-you!
TSS Webmistresses,
Michelle and Maggie
Hi everyone -
Just a quick note to say that we are over halfway there for our August Dedicated Server dues, but we still need over one hundred dollars. We don’t like asking for money, but as we said when we reopened TSS, if we do not get enough monthly donations to maintain our Dedicated Server, we’ll have no other choice than to return to our shared server, and within a week we’d more than likely be right back where we found ourselves last September. Then we would close TSS. We will accept any amount you are willing to donate. All you need to do is click on the ‘Donate Here’ button on the index pages of our sites. If you want to send us money through the mail, please send us an e-mail at the.silver.snitch@gmail.com and ask about mailing donations to us. We appreciate your help, and look forward to continuing TSS. Thanks!
It has come to our attention recently that many people are unaware that we have expanded TSS to three different sites. All of the fics that were on TSS before we had to close it last September are still on one of the new sites unless the author removed it. Our original TSS site (www.thesilversnitch.net) is for the Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy fics; our TSS II site (www.thesilversnitchtoo.net) is for the Severus Snape/Harry Potter fics; our TSS III site (www.thesilversnitchthree.net) is for any other pairings site, which includes threesomes and femslash. We do allow other pairings to be posted on each site, but the main pairing of the fic has to reflect the main site pairing. Please tell others about us; we would love to host fics from your friends, and if they are looking for a home for their fics, we would hope they would consider TSS. If you tell someone about TSS, and they in turn tell someone else, many new people will find out about us.
We hope to begin our Contest #6 soon. There will be many changes from our previous contests, and we are still making a few decisions regarding different aspects of it. We hope to reclaim the fun we had with the first four contests.
We have been validating certain authors as our submission mods have asked us to. We will not be alerting anyone as to when or if you have been validated; we just wanted to alert everyone to this fact in case you were wondering why your fics appear immediately, or why yours don’t and someone else’s fics do.
We have recently been having problems with spammers on our TSS forums, so we have unfortunately had to lock our ‘Fic Search’ category. It will remain locked until the end of August – sorry for the inconvenience, but it is necessary. Speaking of our forums – please go and have a look around. Things are rather quiet there, but it is picking up. Lightgoddess is our new forum mod, and she is trying to get people to post by doing drabble and haiku posts - we want this to catch on, and then perhaps in the future, we can incorporate these categories to the main TSS sites.
TSS Webmistresses,
Michelle and Maggie
Your webmistresses,
Michelle and Maggie
All fics for the Snitch-a-thon will be automatically validated by our mods, so BE SURE TO ADD THE GENRE 'COMING HOME SNITCH-A-THON' SO THEY WILL KNOW TO VALIDATE IT - if you forget, your fic may be stuck in the queue.
Remember that all Harry/Draco fics go on TSS I; all Severus/Harry fics go on TSS II; any other pairings go on TSS III.
If anyone has a fic ready for the Snitch-A-Thon, you may go ahead and post it now since it is only an hour away from beginning.
TSS Webmistresses,
Michelle, Maggie, and Mandi
Hi everyone –
Don’t forget that this weekend is the Snitch-a-thon - May 26, 27th, and 28th - Fri. 8PM EST (New York time) - Sun. 8PM EST (New York time). For those of you who haven't joined us in one of these before, we'll tell you a bit about it. This isn't one of our official contests, just a fun way to inspire people to write more slash! We will be asking you to write fics with the theme of coming home (returning to Britain, returning to Hogwarts, finding a home where your heart is, or anything else!). There is a 500-word minimum but no limit. When we begin the Snitch-a-thon, we will have added 'Coming Home Snitch-a-thon' as a genre. We will be posting reminders on Friday. We look forward to seeing what everyone writes. All fics for the Snitch-a-thon will be automatically validated. Remember that all Harry/Draco fics go on TSS I; all Severus/Harry fics go on TSS II; any other pairings go on TSS III.
One other thing that has come up recently. We will only accept challenges that actually pose a challenge. We will not accept song lyrics. We are doing this because anyone can just copy and paste lyrics and say…oh I can just see Harry and Draco together when I see this song, and also because there have been artists who cry “copyright infringement” regarding their lyrics being republished without their permission.
Song fics are still going to be allowed if the song and artist are both recognized, if the actual fic – non lyrics - is more than 500 words, and if there is more actual fic than lyrics.
We will begin going through the challenges within the next few weeks and will begin removing challenges with song lyrics.

Just a quick note to say that we are two-thirds of the way there for our June Dedicated Server, but we still need one hundred dollars. We don’t like asking for money, but as we said when we reopened, if we do not get enough monthly donations to maintain our Dedicated Server, we’ll have no other choice than to return to our shared server, and within a week we’d more than likely be right back where we found ourselves last September. Happy Mother's Day! Due to multiple requests from many of our members, and the freedom we have due to our dedicated server, we are going to do away with denying fics because of spelling/grammar/punctuation errors. You will still receive a letter from one of our mods with suggestions if they find something amiss, but authors do not have to use the suggestions. We will say that our mods know what they are talking about, so if they make a suggestion, chances are, it would be in your best interest to use it or them.
If you're missing a disclaimer, if your fic is less than 500 words long, if it is non-slash, or if it is on the wrong site, you will still receive a ‘no letter.’ and will need to resubmit your fic when you have made the needed corrections/additions.
TSS webmistresses,
Michelle, Maggie, and Mandi
Hi everyone -
We have two things to discuss -
- a brand new Snitch-a-thon
- and some changes to our Yahoo groups/LJ's.
We are planning a Snitch-a-thon to celebrate TSS's return. It will be held the weekend of May 26, 27th, and 28th (Fri. 8PM EST - New York - Sun. 8PM EST - New York). 1000-5000 words is what we are looking for. When we begin the Snitch-a-thon, we will have added 'Coming Home Snitch-a-thon' as a genre. We will be posting reminders as we get closer to the dates.
Okay, on to the other thing now! As we mentioned recently, we are in the process of disbanding our TSS_Betas Yahoo group. We have removed the link to the group from the sites, and from now on, all beta queries can be posted in our forum:
http://thesilversnitchthree.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=6
We are also in the process of deleting our other groups and lj's that were formed when TSS went down. All queries that were posted in the groups/lj's can now be posted in the forums:
http://thesilversnitchthree.net/forums/index.php
Please take advantage of this, and if you have any suggestions that could improve the forum, please e-mail us – you can find our e-mail address at the bottom of any of the pages on TSS. We will be giving everyone one week to save their fics from our LJ 'The Fake Snitch' and then we will be deleting it. All other groups/LJ's will be deleted immediately. We know some of you like the new groups/lj's, but we have a forum that is more than adequate for your needs. We do not want to keep all of these side groups if we do not need them.
The use of our TSS Yahoo group will now return to its original purpose - administration use only. All fic updates, etc. by members can be posted in the forum. Any posts by members in the TSS Yahoo Group will be deleted!
We want to thank everyone for the donations we have received thus far. We accept any amount you can send us – we are not picky! TSS has such wonderful members!
If there are any questions, please reply to this post. Thanks Again!
TSS Webmistresses,
Michelle, Maggie, and Mandi
Hello everyone!
We have already posted this to the silver_snitch_betas group once, but we wanted to make a general announcement that as of this weekend that particular group will be deleted from yahoo groups. If you are looking for a beta, or would like to offer your beta services, please go to the appropriate section of our forum.
http://thesilversnitchthree.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=6
The forums are an excellent place for fic searches, questions, and off-topic comments as well, so we encourage you to join!!!
We apologize for the wave of changes that is happening, but we feel that it can only provide for a sleeker, better TSS in the future.
Thanks again for being loyal friends and members, and for supporting each other in our quests for good slash stories!
Your webmistresses,
Michelle, Maggie, and Mandi
Hello everyone!
Just a mini-update with a reminder about our validation process.
If you post a new story that does not have a disclaimer, it will be denied, and you will receive a letter explaining why, and asking you to add a disclaimer before re-posting. If you are posting an addition to a multi-chaptered fic that has no disclaimer in the first chapter, that fic will be conditionally approved, but you will receive a letter asking you to add a disclaimer within the next two weeks, or have that fic removed.
The TSS submissions screeners ARE going to point out errors in your stories when they see them, but unless the fic in question has been denied validation (which is rare) because of grammar and spelling errors to the extreme or because of problems with formatting, the suggestions in the letters that you, the authors, receive are just that - suggestions - and while it would be in the authors' best interest to follow the suggestions, they do not have to.
TSS has no desire to become an archive that requires perfection. We have been on that side of the validation process at other archives as well, and we like it as little as you do. However, please take a moment before getting upset when you receive a letter with suggestions, to understand that the opinions offered are meant to help you, not to besmirch your ability to write your own story the way you wish.
Your webmistresses,
Michelle, Maggie, and Mandi
Hi everyone –
It has been three days, and TSS is doing very well! We have been pleased with the response thus far. There are certain aspects of TSS we are still working on, and we are happy to say we have fixed one of those – when you submit a fic, and it is validated, it will appear at the top of the Recently Updated list. It was placing the fic in the order it was submitted, and that was not fair to the authors, and was confusing to everyone, so we changed it.
The screening process has taken a bit of getting accustomed to for all of us, but we think it is going well thus far. If anyone has questions about what is being screened for at TSS, please go to the help/info. link in the menu on any of the three sites.
Speaking of validating, most of our screeners, if not all of them, are from the US, so unless they have odd hours, as some of us do – lol, expect that there will be some down time while they sleep. We would hope all stories get validated in a timely manner, but don’t be upset if it takes twenty-four hours. If you have any questions regarding screening, please e-mail us. You will find our e-mail link at the bottom of any of the pages on the sites.
Now onto a change - our daily update list, while very nice to have, has been discontinued. Our initial reasoning for offering this feature was to keep people from overloading the server by visiting the site constantly to check for updates. Our move to a dedicated server deems this no longer necessary. We are still planning on implementing a RSS feed for the three TSS sites.
Okay, we think that is all for now.
Your webmistresses,
M, M, and M
Hello Everyone!
It is our pleasure to announce that The Silver Snitch (TSS) archive is now officially open! We are now inviting anyone, new and old members alike to join any and all of our three sites, and read, review and post to your heart’s content.
The categories are now unlocked. You may now feel free to post any new stories, as well as continue updating your old stories. Please be sure you put your fic in the right category - screeners will move it to the correct category if it needs to be moved, but if it is on the wrong site, your fic will be deleted and you will receive a letter telling you why.
Most of your questions can be answered by clicking one of the following links:
http://www.thesilversnitch.net/fic/help.php
http://www.thesilversnitchtoo.net/fic/help.php
http://www.thesilversnitchthree.net/fic/help.php
However, there are a few things that we want to emphasize.
Please understand that there will be a time delay between when you post your story or chapter, and when you see the story appear on the archive. We have a valued team of volunteers who are screening fics for us now. We would like to emphasize the word “volunteer”. Screening is new for us here at TSS and we are sure there may be a few glitches along the way. However, we have the utmost of confidence that the team of people we have helping us will do their utmost to get your stories validated in a timely manner.
We will be screening at TSS for the following:
FORMATTING – there has to be spaces in between paragraphs as well as in between two different people speaking… i.e.:
Bad Formatting:
“Hi, how are you doing, Maggie?”
“Very well, Michelle. Aren’t you thrilled TSS is finally open?”
“Thrilled wouldn’t begin to explain how I am feeling at the moment.”
“Hi girls, can you believe this day is finally here?”
“Hey, Mandi. As I was just telling Maggie, words are failing me at the moment to explain how happy I am.”
Proper formatting:
“Hi, how are you doing, Maggie?”
“Very well, Michelle. Aren’t you thrilled TSS is finally open?”
“Thrilled wouldn’t begin to explain how I am feeling at the moment.”
“Hi girls, can you believe this day is finally here?”
“Hey, Mandi. As I was just telling Maggie, words are failing me now to explain how happy I am.”
DISCLAIMERS - All fics must have a disclaimer in the first chapter…no exceptions! We will begin going through older fics soon and if your fic is missing a disclaimer, you’ll receive an e-mail giving you two weeks to add one. If you do not do not add one in that time, we will delete your fic.
EXCESSIVE BAD GRAMMAR AND/OR SPELLING - TSS was created so everyone could post their fics without having to worry about them being denied, and we want to continue this. We will ask that those few fics that are impossible to read, be edited and resubmitted. We doubt this will be implemented often at all. We are serious about this being a site for everyone!
WARNINGS - If your fic has insufficient warnings, we will ask that you resubmit it with the correct warnings – we are a slash site and people do know the fics will be sexual in nature, but we have warnings for a reason, and you need to utilize them, please.
Please get a beta – we are not going to be denying fics because of grammar/spelling unless your fic/chapter is riddled with errors, but our screeners may very well send you an e-mail with suggestions for you to improve your fic. We strongly suggest you take their suggestions seriously. Your fic will be read more often when it is written well.
There has been some speculation as to whether or not WIP’s which have not been updated in a long time will be deleted by the TSS mods. They will not. In many cases, however, authors have taken it upon themselves to remove some of their unfinished works or to consolidate stories previously posted separately into a single post.
The only stories that have been removed are those which totaled less than 500 words when complete. At the time that we began the transfer, we were unaware that we would have the flexibility of a dedicated server, but we still are not taking our increased space and bandwidth for granted. Currently, any stories uploaded which are less than 500 words will also be deleted. An individual chapter of a multi-chaptered work MAY have less than 500 words (for example, a short prologue to a longer fic).
We also ask that you limit each chapter post to 15,000 words maximum. It causes a strain on bandwidth to upload chapters larger than this.
TSS now also has a Forum (http://thesilversnitchthree.net/forums/index.php) which can be utilized for a great many things including but not limited to: fic searches, posting that you have updated your WIP, fic reccs, requests for a beta (as well as posting your name to volunteer to beta fics), as well as general discussion on the HP books and movies, not to mention anything else you might wish to discuss. You will need to register for the forum to participate, but we promise it is just as easy and painless as becoming a member of TSS.
In a very short period of time (no more than a month’s time), the official TSS yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thesilversnitch) and live journal (http://community.livejournal.com/thesilversnitch/) will return to their official capacities as a tool for the webmistresses to update TSS members. The other yahoo groups which have served us well in the interim (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tss_talk/ and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/silver_snitch_betas/), and the other live journals (http://community.livejournal.com/the_fake_snitch/ and http://community.livejournal.com/tss_talk/) will disappear. Please use the forum for any needs that these groups previously served for you. We think you will find it a useful tool!
As mentioned in our earlier letters, TSS is now on a dedicated server. We are able to do that through your donations. The dedicated server has given us the bandwidth and space to assure that the same thing that happened eight long months ago will not happen again. As requested by several people, for your convenience, there is a button on each of the three sites to click on to make donating even easier.
There are only a few minor glitches left for us to fix. First, if you have fics listed in your favorites, you will receive an email. However, the email only contains a link to said fic, but no information about who the author is or the name of the fic. Helpful, eh? LOL We hope to have that fixed soon! Second, a few of you are having problems with getting your passwords, or receiving emailed copies of reviews. In many cases, if you use for instance a yahoo email address, the messages from TSS are being posted to your spam folder. Some email addys (like those of two of our webmistresses!) are blocking messages from TSS entirely. We are looking into it, but for now, we suggest that you attempt to change the address you receive your emails from TSS to an alternate.
We think that is all for now! Please celebrate with us! Write some new slash, and come post with us!!!!
Your webmistresses,
Michelle, Maggie, and Mandi
Hi everyone –
Yes, you are not dreaming – TSS is open again! This first week, we are not accepting new fics, but please feel free to peruse the archives; become a member (yes, as before, everyone is allowed to become a member, not only those who are authors), read, edit your fics, update chapters (we are now screening for formatting, so there will be a delay between the time authors update until their fics are actually posted for readers to see), and review. A note about reviews – for some reason, authors are not being allowed to respond to reviews, so don’t think your reviews are not being read or received – they are. We are working on this and hope to have this problem resolved soon.
There is another small thing we are working on as well. When members add a fic to their favorites, they will receive an e-mail with the link when the fic is updated. The link sends fine, but the fic and chapter information are not showing up in the e-mail. We are going to try to fix that this week.

Okay, we think that is all we needed to post at the moment. If you have any questions, please leave a comment at our LJ, reply in the Yahoo group, or e-mail us at the.silver.snitch@gmail.com
We are so happy to finally be back!
TSS Webmistresses,
Michelle, Maggie, and Mandi
We have removed everyone from the validation list, so if you are updating fics still, or if you try to upload a fic, it will automatically go into the submitted fic queue. We have done this because we are getting closer to the opening of TSS, and we are needing to get the sites ready. We know a few of you have been updating the past day or two. Your chapters will be validated! More information about validating fics to come soon.
Michelle, Maggie, and Mandi
Last night, one of us received an e-mail saying there were once again, posts in other groups saying they could get on the TSS sites. I thought it might be a residual post from the last time this happened, but today, it appears that is not the case, so please read the following, and heed its warning!!!!!
Yes, the sites are viewable because people who have sent their information to us as requested, are transferring their fics. This does not mean, however, that the site is open to the public. If people try to post, or if they become a member, their fics and memberships will be automatically deleted because all fics must be validated first, and we have been adding all of the authors, ourselves. So, it will be quite easy for us to determine who has not been given permission to be on the site(s).
And...and this is most important!!!!! If people overload the server and TSS goes down again before we have gotten the sites ready to go officially, we are not doing this again, so all fics will be lost!!!!! We are very serious about this!!!!!!
Please feel free to pass on this information, because we would really hate to see TSS go, but if people do not follow the rules, then unfortunately, everyone pays the price.
Your TSS Webmistresses,
Michelle, Maggie and Mandi
